Holographic Warranty Void Seals in India
A warranty void seal is a small label with a big job: it tells a service centre, a buyer or an auditor whether a product has been opened since it left the factory. In India, electronics brands, appliance makers, automotive part suppliers and equipment companies use holographic warranty void seals to cut false warranty claims and to stop unauthorised repairs. This article explains how these seals work, which type suits which product, and what to ask your supplier.
The problem warranty seals solve
When a product comes back under warranty, the brand has to decide if the fault is genuine or if someone opened the unit, swapped a part or tried a local repair. Without proof, many companies end up paying for damage they did not cause. A plain paper sticker does not help much, because it can be peeled off and stuck back or copied at any print shop. A holographic void seal solves both problems: it shows tampering clearly, and the hologram itself is very hard to copy.
How a holographic void seal works
The seal has two layers working together. The first is the hologram, a design originated in a lab and embossed into the label, which gives a rainbow image that changes with the viewing angle. The second is the tamper-evident layer. When someone tries to lift the label, a special adhesive and release coating separate, leaving a pattern behind on the product, usually the word VOID or a checkerboard. The label itself also shows the pattern, so it cannot be stuck back without the damage being visible.
Types of tamper-evident hologram seals
- VOID hologram labels leave a VOID message on the surface when removed. Best for smooth surfaces such as electronics casings and appliance panels.
- Honeycomb hologram labels leave a honeycomb pattern of residue that is almost impossible to clean off completely. Good for high-value products and spare parts.
- Breakable vinyl labels use a very fragile film that breaks into small pieces when someone tries to peel it. Useful on screws, joints and uneven surfaces.
- Serialised void seals carry a unique number, barcode or QR code, so each seal can be matched to a product and a warranty record.
Where warranty void seals are used
The most common places are screw heads and joints on electronics, mobile accessories, computer hardware, power tools and home appliances. Automotive and engineering companies use them on spare parts boxes and assemblies. Medical and lab equipment makers use them on service panels. Some companies also seal cartons with them so that a distributor cannot open a box and replace the contents before it reaches the customer.
How to choose the right seal
Start with the surface. Smooth plastic and metal suit VOID labels, while textured or curved surfaces often work better with breakable vinyl. Next, think about who checks the seal. If your service team needs to verify it quickly, a custom hologram with your logo and a serial number is easier to check than a generic design. Finally, consider size and quantity. Small round seals of 10 to 20 mm are common on screws, while larger rectangular labels suit boxes and panels. Ask your supplier for samples and test them on your actual product before placing a bulk order.
Custom design versus stock design
Stock void seals are quick to supply and cost less, but anyone can buy the same design. A custom hologram, originated for your brand, gives much stronger protection because the design exists only for your orders. At Kiran Holographics, custom designs are made in our own origination lab in Jaipur, so the master stays with us and is used only for your labels.
FAQ
Can a void seal be removed and reapplied?
No. Once lifted, the VOID or honeycomb pattern appears on both the label and the surface, so reapplying it is easy to spot.
Will the seal leave marks on my product?
VOID labels leave a pattern that can be cleaned off by a service centre with the right solvent. Honeycomb labels leave more residue by design.
Can each seal have a unique number?
Yes. We add laser or ink serial numbers, barcodes or QR codes.
