Master Plate Origination: The Science Behind Every Secure Hologram

This video explains master plate origination, the first step in making any secure hologram. A master plate carries the original design, and every hologram sticker, label and film made from it copies that pattern.

At our master lab in Jaipur, a designer prepares the artwork and the origination system records it as a 2D/3D, dot matrix or e-beam master. The master is then electroformed into nickel shims, which are fitted on embossing machines to produce thousands of identical holograms. A well-made master gives sharper colours, stronger security features and holograms that are hard to copy.

We use our own origination lab for our production, and we also supply master plates and nickel shims to hologram manufacturers in countries that do not have a lab of their own. Plates can be made for narrow web and wide web machines.
